Who knows about Windows automatic update in Windows 7.64 Home premium?

Because a few days back my Windows automatic update did quite a few updates for my Windows 7.64 operating system which looked like critical ones and it is this time during updates when my desktop started acting wired. Like during the final stages of the updates when my computer was restarting for the updates to take effect it froze completely through its half way booting. Now my desktop freezes every time while it is half way through its booth. "Can a virus be installed through Windows automatic update". "Please let me know". "Please help"
