Is there a way to save an Acer Aspire 5920G laptop?

My boyfriend deleted the system recovery partition on our laptop to make room for his mp3 player music. Then he downloaded a mod for his favorite game... Related or unrelated, the computer crashed. I had a professional techie friend take a look at it. He found a virus in the mod, but wasn't sure if it was the cause. He tried everything he could think of to save it. He got just about everything working except the audio and a few programs. He said he found the partition, but couldn't access it. He consulted with another IT guy and they ran out of ideas. He said we need to re-install Windows Vista Home Premium. We had purchased it a while ago, but we used both licenses - one for the desktop and one for the laptop. I can't seem to find Vista Home Premium anywhere. Any ideas?
