Paintball marker chopping balls?

I have a spyder mr2 marker which I bought a premium 20 inch barrel and a nice electric hopper for. For some reason the gun is chopping balls every ten or so and it clogs it so much that it stops shooting mid-battle. Any ideas why? I've cleaned the gun thoroughly to no avail and I've also tried adjusting the velocity. Help!
